Ganjifa are hand painted cards from India that are made from exquisite materials such as inlaid ivory and tortoise shells. They are as much an art as a game. Brought to India by the Mughal Empire in the 16th century it was a popular pastime played by people of all social classes. Some played for fun, others to cleanse themselves by chanting Vishnu's names, and yet others to win over the love of their lives...
